About Us

Our school is a unique learning environment that emphasizes small class sizes, nature-based learning, whole-child education, and social-emotional development. We believe in teaching peace, nurturing changemakers, and fostering curiosity, independence, and critical thinking. Our approach prioritizes hands-on learning and encourages students to explore and engage with the world around them.

We use narrative assessments rather than traditional grades, focusing on each student’s individual growth and development. Our school does not administer state issued standardized tests and operates as a cooperative learning environment with strong parental involvement.

Elementary Teacher

(Grades K-5) – Private Non-Profit School

Are you passionate about fostering a love of learning in young students? Do you believe in creating a supportive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment? Our private, non-profit school is seeking a dedicated Elementary Teacher to join our vibrant and mission-driven community.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the school.

  • Establish and nurture individualized relationships with each student.

  • Develop engaging, student-centered lessons that align with the school’s educational programming.

  • Evaluate student growth and adjust instruction as needed.

  • Model and support peaceful conflict resolution, self-regulation, and respectful behavior.

  • Maintain a warm, safe, and nurturing classroom environment.

  • Incorporate outdoor learning experiences to enhance academic and social-emotional development.

  • Engage with students across multiple age groups during school-wide gatherings, including daily story circles and annual performances.

  • Collaborate with families in our cooperative school community.

  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.

Required Qualifications
  • Energetic, flexible, resourceful, and collaborative educator.

  • A self-starter who promotes the school’s mission.

  • Experience guiding children’s behavior through relationship-centered support and positive guidance, fostering mutual respect and understanding.

  • Ability to work in a non-graded school environment that utilizes narrative assessments and conferences.

  • Enthusiasm for outdoor education, hands-on learning, and whole-child development.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years experience teaching elementary-age children.

  • Certification and training (e.g., college degree in education or related field).

  • Strong communication skills, including oral storytelling.

  • Experience in holistic or child-centered educational approaches, such as those inspired by Montessori, Waldorf, or Reggio Emilia.

Integrated Specials Educator

Private Non-Profit School

Are you passionate about interdisciplinary teaching, student creativity, and whole-child education? Do you thrive in nature-based, collaborative learning environments? We are seeking a full-time Integrated Specials Educator to join our vibrant and mission-driven community.

Position Overview

The Integrated Specials Educator will lead a dynamic interdisciplinary specials program spanning four key areas:

  • Art & Creative Expression (PK3 - 8th)

  • Movement & Wellness (PK3 - 8th)

  • World Cultures & Theater (PK3 - 3rd)

  • STEAM & Design Thinking (4th - 8th)

This educator will develop and deliver engaging, hand-on instruction that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and community connection across all grade levels.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students in specials classes.

  • Design and implement experiential, student-centered lessons aligned with the school’s values and frameworks.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create interdisciplinary learning experiences.

  • Support student-led projects and performances, encouraging problem-solving and teamwork.

  • Participate in daily story circles and use oral storytelling as a teaching tool.

  • Document student learning and contribute to the school’s narrative assessment process.

  • Share learning highlights with families using platforms such as SeeSaw.

  • Incorporate outdoor learning, mindfulness, and sustainability into lessons.

  • Participate in school-wide events such as the Festival of Lights, Commencement, and at least one additional annual celebration.

  • Model and guide students in peaceful conflict resolution and social-emotional skills.

  • Maintain consistent behavioral expectations aligned with school culture.

  • Attend faculty meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and professional development.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience teaching children in at least one core specials area (art, movement, theater, or STEAM).

  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to engage students from PK3 to 8th grade.

  • Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary, student-centered, and nature-based learning.

  • Capacity to build relationships, foster creativity, and promote teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Physical Education, Cultural Studies, or a related field.

  • Experience in Montessori, Waldorf, or Reggio Emilia settings.

  • Familiarity with mindfulness, SEL, or restorative practices.

  • Background in integrating multiple disciplines into instruction.

  • Knowledge of Spanish language and cultural studies.
