Admissions
PreK 3 - 8th grade
Admissions policy
The Circle School admits students and families on a case by case basis and will use objective as well as subjective criteria to determine admission. Teachers and staff use information provided on applications, student and family interviews and samples of student work to help us make admissions and placement decisions. We do not disqualify students from admission based on any one factor.
Any academic or behavioral concerns are expected to be disclosed upon submission of application. If the school finds out that a family has withheld information on a student’s academic or social/emotional needs, we reserve the right to meet with the family to discuss continued enrollment at the school.
Objective Criteria for Admission
-
Child must be toilet trained (Pre-school age).
-
Returning students will be given first priority.
-
Siblings and former Circle School families will be given first consideration.
-
Number of spaces available in prospective class based on pre-set guidelines.
Subjective Criteria for Admission
A child demonstrating some of these qualities will most likely succeed in our learning environment:
-
Respect for environment, others and self.
-
Honesty and awareness of personal responsibility.
-
Passion for learning.
A Family Commitment
Families of eligible children must be willing to make a commitment to their child’s education. Our program is based on a cooperative type of learning that strongly emphasizes and fosters a family and community spirit. A commitment to the school’s mission and educational philosophy will include a requirement of 40 hours of Co-op participation per semester from each family in our school.
Non-discrimination Policy
The Circle School is dedicated to fostering children’s intellectual, imaginative and emotional development through a variety of methods while stressing a cultural and environmental awareness of the world around them. As an educational community that values diversity and seeks to promote meaningful access to educational opportunity for all, we welcome and strive to accept as many students as possible based on pre-set class sizes. Students have the right not to be discriminated against by The Circle School for reasons of age, creed, ethnic or national origin, gender, disability, political or social affiliation, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
