Special Events and Fundraisers
Co-op members are required to help organize and participate in the school’s two main fundraisers: CircleFest (usually the Saturday before Halloween) and the International Food Festival (usually a Saturday in April between Easter and Fiesta). All hours volunteered toward these events count as Co-op hours. Co-op members are also encouraged to support our secondary fundraisers which include Big Give and occasional restaurant fundraisers. If you have an idea for a fundraiser opportunity, please contact our Director of Fundraising Development email@example.com.
This fall celebration offers kids’ activities, live music, delicious food, a silent auction and raffle. The event also features an unique Pumpkin Path where children hear stories from costumed storytellers on a path lined with pumpkins and luminaries. CircleFest 2018 was an official Tricentennial Celebration Event.
Festival of Lights
During the last week of school before our winter break, the Story Cycle centers on stories that celebrate various religious traditions from around the world, as many cultures have important festivals around the time of the Winter Solstice. The children present a program of music and drama that is based on the common elements of these diverse traditions. This program is followed by a gathering of the community and refreshments. Everyone is encouraged to bring family and friends to be a part of our celebration.
International Food Festival
Take a a culinary tour through Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe, North America and Oceania at the spring International Food Festival. Eat. Drink. Bid. Socialize. Repeat. The event also includes a silent auction, raffle, local entertainment and kids’ activities.
Commencement Ceremonies and End of School Picnic
The End of the Year Commencement is a student created and directed program presented the evening before the last day of school. During the ceremony, we take the time to recognize students, teachers and parents for their achievements. It is a time for farewells and expressions of gratitude. The day after Closing Ceremonies is the last day of school and our annual closing picnic. Parent volunteers provide food and refreshments and everyone is thankful for the growth-filled year we experienced. Everyone goes home tired.
The Coffee House is a casual social event and mini-fundraiser. It is an opportunity for parents, children, friends, and family to get together and socialize while enjoying snacks and listening to live music or other entertainment. Coffee House is held periodically throughout the school year. Parents are encouraged to sign up to bring coffee, kid drinks, adult beverages, and appetizers. The Coffee House committee organizes entertainment and everyone has a wonderful evening. This is a great way to relax with friends in a kid-friendly environment.
