Required:

  • Responsible for the safety and well being of all of the children in the school 

  • Teach all children according to the school’s philosophy of integrated individualized developmental curriculum 

  • Establish and nurture a personal and individualized relationship with each child 

  • Evaluate each student’s growth and development, implementing changes in her/his individual instruction whenever necessary 

  • Energetic, inspirational, and committed educator

  • Must be a self-starter, resourceful and promote the mission of The Circle School

  • Must be able to design and implement lesson plans appropriate for age and in line with our educational family tree

  • Assume responsibility for managing children’s behavior by effectively modeling appropriate behavior, appropriately preparing all aspects of the classroom environment, and assisting the children to work through the school’s process of peaceful conflict resolution 

  • Maintain a safe, warm and nurturing classroom environment 

  • Ability to work in a cooperative school environment with significant parental involvement

  • Non-graded school; no standardized testing

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching elementary-aged children

  • Certification and training (e.g. college degree)

  • Excellent communication skills -- including oral storytelling

  • Experience in alternative education

 

Offer:

  • One Year (with potential renewal)

  • Salary: $36,000 base compensation

  • Benefits include optional enrollment in comprehensive health, dental, vision and supplemental insurance program; 2 weeks paid PTO

  • School year program and 3 weeks teaching over summer for camp programs

The Circle School is a private, non-profit, family cooperative preschool and elementary school.  We provide small classes, individual attention, and a program that emphasizes teaching peace and a knowledge of world cultures. We are located at 217 Pershing Ave., San Antonio, Texas (south of Hildebrand between Broadway & N. New Braunfels, near the Witte Museum).
