Application Process and Procedure

The Circle School is dedicated to fostering children’s intellectual, imaginative and emotional development through a variety of methods while stressing a cultural and environmental awareness of the world around them.  We welcome and strive to accept as many students as possible, but as a part of the application process, we will use both objective and subjective means to determine enrollment.

 Objective Criteria for Enrollment:

1. Child must be toilet trained.
2. Returning students will be given first priority.               
3. Siblings and former Circle School families will be given first consideration.
4. The number of children who can be accommodated depends on preset guidelines.  When space is unavailable at the time of request, your child may be placed in the waiting pool at the parent’s request.  If space becomes available you will be contacted.

Subjective Criteria for Enrollment:

A child demonstrating some of these qualities will be most likely to succeed in our learning environment:

1. Respect for environment, others and self.
2. Honesty and awareness of personal responsibility.
3. Passion for learning.

A Family Commitment:

Families of eligible children must be willing to make a commitment to their child’s education. Our program is based on a cooperative type of learning that strongly emphasizes and fosters a family and community spirit. Therefore, commitment to the school’s mission and educational philosophy will manifest itself in the signing of The Circle School Contract and Handbook, which will include a requirement of at least 6 - 8 hours (part-time) and 10 hours (full time) of participation per month from each family in our school.

Application Procedure:

1. Requests for application are taken over the phone and in person.
2. An information packet including current tuition rates will be given upon request.
3. A tour of the school with your child is highly recommended. The school does have an open door policy, calling prior to your visit will ensure someone is available to show you around.
4. A non-refundable application fee is due upon application submission.

During recruitment, a meeting with teacher(s), parent and student is required.  Every effort will be made to schedule such meetings at earliest convenience. This will ensure that the school is the right fit for your family and that we will be able to provide a program for your child.

We encourage you to visit The Circle School with your child. No appointment is necessary; however, you may call for an appointment with a teacher, administrator or Cooperative.
